Turnaround Time Update

6/23/08

We are currently scheduling complete guns at 4-5 weeks due to another big spike in jobs received in our shop. We appoligize for longer times but it happens from time to time. We are glad to be busy. Thank you for your support and your understanding of this matter.

Ron Phillips and Company, LLC

Just wanted to make an informal announcement about my friend and former colleague Ron Phillips. It seems Ron has opened a new custom pistolsmith shop. Ron Phillips and Company.

I met and worked with Ron while at Wilson Combat back in 1989. Ron had already been at Wilsons for quite some time when I started. Ron and I and others worked on many different projects together over the 14 years I spent at Wilsons and had some crazy times as well. I learned a great deal of gun work experience from Ron. Magwells, hand checkering, serrating and more. After I left Wilsons in 2004, Ron soon left to help start Nighthawk Custom.

There is no doubt with Rons extensive background & experience with 1911's, he will be continuing some top shelf work in his new business. We have put a link on our site to Rons website. Check it out!

Congratulations Ron on your new endeavors and we wish you all the best!

Tripp Research to Terminate Finishing Services

It appears that Virgil Tripp of Tripp Research will no longer be doing hard chrome plating or his Cobra Coat Finish work after June 2008. I noticed the announcement on the Tripp website. A big thanks to Virgil for mentioning Metaloy as an alternative listed on the site.

Sorry to hear Tripp Research no longer offering this but congratulations to them that the magazine division and gun offerings are booming! In this business like in all, you have to concentrate your efforts where the money is.

We wish Virgil and his crew the absolute best in the future with these endeavors.

A Customer Testimonial

Many times we hear from customers that had finish work done by Metaloy long ago.

Recently we received an email from a man in Tulsa, OK that had us apply our Metaloy hard chrome to his S&W Model 57 back in the fall of 1983. Most likely one of the very first guns that came from our shop.

The mans email alluded to the fact that he carried this weapon for many years on a daily basis. In the pictures he sent you will notice some wear around the muzzle but all else looks to be in very good condition. In Oklahoma summertime can be extremely humid conditions. His S&W looks to have faired very well over these many years.

Thanks to Steve Woodruff whos weapon this is and who sent us pics. Thank you sir.

Our 25th Anniversary 1983-2008

2008 marks our 25th year in the plating and firearms finishing business. We started back in 1983 and are still going strong. Our 'Original' Metaloy hard chrome Finish remains completely unchanged in that time. Over the years we have tried to give shooters and gun owners the best quality finishes and the best service possible. After 25 years, we think we are getting close. We look forward to new customers and new challenges in the coming year.

Thank you all for your patronage over the years. We hope you will continue to call on us for your firearms finishing needs.

What is customer support...really?

You see it everywhere on tv, radio, newspapers. "Satisfaction Gauranteed", "Money back if not completely satisfied" or "The Customer will be extremely satisfied."

These tag lines sound great. Comforting. I'm sure they make the sale everyday. What do they REALLY mean? Are they true staements?

Support is defined as the ability to bear the weight of, to hold in position, to provide for or hold in position by supplying necessities.

At Metaloy Industries, Inc. we have been supporting and providing award winning customer service for 24 years. We have always stood behind our work and our finishes. Today, more than ever, we strive to provide custom quality finishes and we will do whatever it takes to support the customer should he or she have a problem with performance of those finishes. Service and quality are the life line, literally, at Metaloy Industries. You can trust us to be there for the long haul. We're not trying to sell customer service, we are simply telling you this is part of the firearms finishing service we offer. Second to none in the industry!

TactiKote Finish

We get a lot of questions about our TactiKote Finish from time to time. Our Tactikote Finish is our own brand of polymer finish that we use. It is a combination of polymer and Teflon. We believe it is a good combination of hardness and lubricity. TactiKote can be applied to steel, both stainless and carbon as well as aluminum, Titanium, brass, etc. It holds up well on just about any application. Pistols, shotguns, rifles, revolvers. We also apply it to knife blades and handles for a major custom knife manufacturer.

TaciKote is similar to other spray on, thermally cured finishes. We offer almost any color. Our standard stock colors are flat & semi gloss black, flat OD green, flat dark earth, light & dark gray, silver. It works very well for hunting rifles, home defense and tactical shotguns. Excellent corrosion resitance, wear resistance. We have excellent control of build up in our application process. All who have tried our TactiKote have been stisfied with the results.

TactiKote with withstand a MINIMUM of 500 hours of 5% salt spray. It will also withstand temperatures above 500 degrees F. and as low as -320 degrees F. TactiKote is resistant to all chemicals in the automotive and aircraft industries as well as solvents and acids.

Our TactiKote is a much better alternative to blue or parkerizingas far as total protection goes. We think you will agree as well.

The Metaloy Finish process

As of late, we have been hearing complaints about other platers in the industry that buff, polish or alter in some way the fit & finish of the pistol or firearm prior to plating. We are hearing of slide to frame fits being loose or otherwise not like the customer expected them. We have been receiving some first time customers that say they went to "X" plating company and they altered or ruined my gun.

I just want to reassure all that Metaloy does NOT nor has ever altered the fit, finish or any other aspect of the pistol or firearms that we finish. For 23 years we have prided ourselves on this very aspect of work. When the customer or pistolsmith sends a gun to us, we only perform the neccessary blasting, cleaning or degreasing to facilitate our finishing or plating process. Your gun comes back exactly how you sent it to us often times much better than when it was sent. That is the point of our finishes is to protect and enhance the function of your weapons.

I hope this sheds light on the type of service that you can expect here at Metaloy. We take great care to insure your weapon is taken care of and returned in a manner that is in keeping with our long standing reputation. You get exactly what you pay for out there. Don't skimp on quality. Remember that you will remember the quality long after you forget tha price.
